Where you’ll work: This role is considered Multisited and there will be a requirement to move between sites as per business need.
Your pay: Tier 5 - £23,500 per annum pro rata.
Your hours: 34.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday / 37 weeks per annum
Your employment: Part Time / Fixed Term / Term Time until 30 June 2023

We are looking for Communication Support Workers to join our established Deaf Services Team, to work across our all of our campuses.

About the Role
To provide communication support to Deaf and hearing impaired students, some with additional learning differences and disabilities.

As a Communication Support Worker, you will provide support to Deaf and hearing-impaired students in classes, during practical activities, work experience, tutorials and meetings. The role includes signing and oral communication, note taking, preparing resources and transcriptions.

Under the direction of the ALS Manager, Coordinator, and teaching staff, you will maintain, monitor, and evaluate the level of support required and the methods of implementing this. As part of your role, you will liaise between students, tutors, and peer groups to facilitate successful integration and provide students with support during all curriculum linked activities.

You will need to hold or be working towards British Sign Language Level 3; we will also consider candidates with a Level 3 Note taking or Communication Support Worker qualification. It would be desirable, but not essential if you hold the Oral Language Modification qualification. Successful candidates will require Level 2 in Maths, English and ICT. It is essential that you can demonstrate experience of working with Deaf and hearing-impaired learners, ideally in a post sixteen educational environment. You should also have a good understanding of Deaf culture and issues.
