Do you have experience as a Team Lead, Engineering Manager or a Senior Engineer with an underpinning Mechanical knowledge and the ability to manage between 5-15 Engineers and oversee multiple projects at one time? If so, this position could be for you

Atlas Recruitment Group are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Team Leader on behalf of our prestigious defence client. My client is not looking for industry specific candidates and welcomes applications from Defence, Aerospace, Automotive and all other relevant Mechanical bias industries

As a Mechanical Team Leader, you will manage a team of mechanical engineers taking responsibility for workload management ensuring time, cost and quality objectives are met alongside training and development and all relevant aspects of performance management. You will be working on products such as Helmet Mounted & Head-Up Displays, Mission Computers, Flight Controls, Active Inceptors and other associated safety-critical technology.



Overview of position:

* Prepare project plans, direct a team in their implementation, monitor and report progress and spend against agreed budgets and timescales
* Meet project reporting requirements such as provision of monthly reports and attendance at weekly reviews
* Devise and maintain resource plans and ensure allocation of mechanical engineering resources to meet project demands
* Identify recruitment requirements
* Prepare and implement training and induction plans for new starts, contractors and apprentices
* Coordinate and conduct performance and development reviews
* Understand and provide governance on the adherence of mechanical team members,
* Prepare estimates in support of new bids
* Coaching & developing the skills of your team members



Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

* Mechanical engineering background
* Experience in managing individual and team performance and supporting the professional development of staff
* Able to demonstrate experience leading product development teams through the engineering development lifecycle, from concept through to production, including solving problems using new technologies and innovations for complex engineering systems
* Experience of project planning and execution and in creating and understanding estimates



Desirable:

* Requirements management tools such as DOORS
* System development tools such as MATLAB, Simulink
