About the Role:

The Kent Autistic Trust are a well-established autistic care provider for adults. We are now recruiting for experienced specialist support workers for our casual bank. The Trust utilise its own bank of support staff to fill vacancies and staffing gaps and only use agency staff as a last resort. We are particularly keen to attract specialist support workers with 2 yearsplus similar experience.

KAT provide practical and emotional support to ensure the adults we care for enjoy active lives in the community. We support individuals on a 1:1 basis with complex needs, including physical and learning disabilities.

Having a well-trained, flexible pool of workers available to undertaking flexible shifts is essential to the smooth running of our business. We are very proud of the specialist PBS training, coaching and ongoing support that our practice development team provide to our staff, and as one of our bank/casual support workers you can expect to receive full training, which is exactly the same as the specialist training, we provide to our permanent workforce.

About the services in this area:

Our business is regionally split by Local Authority areas in Medway (Chatham, Gillingham, Rochester and Walderslade) and Kent (Ashford, Canterbury and Swale). We support autistic adults in small service residential homes, in supported living flats, day centres and also offer outreach packages.

There\'s a lot of activities that the adults we support like to pursue, so you could be in the garden or our allotment one day or supporting someone with cycling, swimming, horse-riding trampolining and much more. We are particularly keen to recruit drivers as we all love to visit the coast and rural areas for walks. We also provide support with domestic chores such as meals, shopping and cleaning.

As well as daytime hours, we also need staff to cover evening and night shifts including weekends. Evening shifts involve supporting with meals and inhouse entertainment activities or maybe going out to pubs or for a game of bingo and winding down for the day. Night shifts include regular checks for those with health conditions such as epilepsy.

If you are a positive, forward-thinking and compassionate Specialist Support Worker and looking for a flexible working arrangement then we would love to hear from you.
