Do you have strong administrative and organisational skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service? We are looking for a someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join a team that delivers an outstanding service to ensure students are provided with appropriate opportunities to improve their graduate outcomes and employment prospects.

The education and employability of our students lies at the centre of the University's strategy. This role is responsible for providing effective administrative support to the Division, contributing to improving the student experience through high-quality employability and placement provision.

The role holder will work in close liaison with the University's central Careers & Employability Service (CES) and be placed in the Division for the study of Law, Society and Social Justice.

This is a part time position which is available on a fixed term basis until 30 September 2022 to provide maternity cover.

As a Employability & Placements Administrator, you will:


  • Maintain and update the Placements Management System in accordance with defined procedures ensuring it is accurate and up to date.

  • Provide administrative support for the effective organisation, management and delivery of employability/careers and placement activities and initiatives including assisting with the delivery of events, workshops and other support sessions to ensure students seeking placements, internships and work experience are well-equipped for the process.

  • Track event and activity attendance and obtain feedback from participating students in order to assist with the continuous improvement of the divisional employability events programme.

  • Facilitate visits, interviews, tutor visits etc, including scheduling visits with placement students and host companies; The role holder will also be required to engage in local Divisional practice to ensure a positive student placement experience is achieved.



To be successful in the role you will have/be:

  • GCSE Maths & English (grade C/4 or above) or equivalent

  • Experience of working in a busy office environment, delivering excellent customer service

  • Experience of maintaining accurate electronic records and using databases on a regular basis, and of paying close attention to detail

  • Good IT skills particularly MS Office packages

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences

  • A high level of organisational and time management skills including the ability to work to deadlines and with competing priorities
