An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Triage and Support Officer to join our busy Housing Advice Team, on a 12 month fixed term contract, working 37 hours per week.



With some have experience of working in a housing related field or working in a frontline service, assisting vulnerable customers, you will need to have the key skills and knowledge required to ensure that the council offers an excellent Housing Advice service.



Your main duties will be to undertake housing advice triage interviews, both face-to-face and over the telephone, for customers approaching the Council for housing advice and assistance; provide initial housing advice and booking appointments for the team where appropriate; assist other members of the housing team in carrying out homelessness investigations through speaking to customers and key agencies; maintaining accurate and up to date records.



You will also work with of members of the team to assist customers at risk of homelessness to find solutions that will prevent them from becoming homeless. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will also help to link customers to other projects and services that may be of benefit to them.



You will need to demonstrate that you have the proven skills to treat customers sensitively whilst remaining assertive and to have a mentality of wanting to support breaking the cycle of homelessness.



The Council considers this to be a customer focused role and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.
