Dartford, Kent

Porchlight

Closing Date: 4th February 2021
Interview Date: 23rd February 2021
Fixed Term Contract until: 31st March 2022

Location: Gravesend, Dartford, Sevenoaks and Swanley (will include travel across Kent)

About us: Porchlight is a charity supporting people who are homeless, vulnerable and isolated. At Porchlight, we are passionate about helping vulnerable people to reach their full potential. We strive for a fairer society where vulnerable people find stability, the most excluded are included, and where homelessness and poverty are things of the past.

The role: You will be part of The BeYou Project - our support service for LGBT+ young people. You will help run BeYou meet-ups – safe spaces where they can be themselves and socialise (these are currently being held online due to Covid restrictions but will be run face-to-face when it’s safe to do so).

You will also provide one-to-one support for a small number of LGBT+ young people, and be available to offer advice and guidance to their families (when appropriate).

What you need:

- Someone who can talk with, motivate and engage young people
- You should have a good understanding of the issues LGBT+ young people face and be committed to building LGBT+ communities
- Experience of designing, promoting and managing youth group programmes
- The energy and enthusiasm to help us drive our BeYou service forward to change the lives of more LGBT+ young people
- A commitment to Porchlight’s safeguarding policies and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.

Benefits: As a member of the Porchlight team, you will have access to a wide range of employee benefits including:

- Free life insurance
- Flexible working hours
- 25 days holiday per year (increasing to 30 days after 5 years service)
- Porchlight pension scheme
