2. JOB PURPOSE
East Kent Hospitals Charity supports the hospitals across East Kent. It raises, manages and distributes funds on behalf the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. The Charity has assets of £2.8m spread across 50 funds. The charity operates under the NHS Foundation Trust under corporate trusteeship, with a Charitable Funds Committee (CFC) to oversee and develop the Charity strategy.
The charity is one of more than 400 NHS Hospital charities in the UK, which together raise over £400m per annum to enhance and support patient care, providing grants for projects that are over and above those served through government funding.
The post of Charity Project Officer is an important link between the hospital charity, hospital staff, charity projects and the local community. The post holder will require reasonable knowledge of fundraising and considerable energy and enthusiasm that will inspire the patients, visitors and local community to choose East Kent Hospitals Charity as their preferred charity to support. Also working with, staff and volunteer networks and local business, developing fundraising initiatives, activities and events that are appropriate.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that fundraising projects, marketing and events are in place that will have high profile and will generate funds to agreed targets. The post holder will be assisting in the implementation of projects funded by the charity. The individual must be able to go out into the community, create and network with staff internally, groups and individuals, offering high quality fundraising options and lifting the profile of the charity. Working closely with community groups and clinical service, the ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, keen for direct contact with people, good at motivating and self-confident.
The post holder will require good knowledge of social media and working with the Communications Team and local media, staff and volunteer networks to add value to the activities of the Charity.
