The School of Engineering, Technology and Design is a new School within which we are growing computing and developing engineering. The School sits within the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences. The Faculty has in the region of 1200 students studying across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The School wishes to appoint a Technical Instructor Demonstrator to support the Engineering learning provision (potentially in the area of mechanical workshop engineering). You will have the opportunity to join a team of engineering educators and contribute to the development of a problem-based/CDIO curriculum which will produce work-ready graduates that can research and design inclusive engineering solutions for society’s benefit.

The post holder will maintain and assist with the running of the engineering spaces and help design and deliver practical sessions integrated with the curriculum to students of Engineering programmes working with Academic staff as the subject matter experts. Also, to work with Director of Engineering and Head of School to develop employability learning development of engineering students and staff. The post holder will bring Engineering expertise to assist lecturers, supervise and instruct students and ensure the delivery of excellent skills-based teaching and assessment for skills, competence and performance. Experience in the area of mechanical engineering including experience of CNC, manual machine tools such as screw cutting lathes, milling machines, hand tools and general workshop practices would be advantageous. This post reports to the Engineering Technical Manager.
