An exciting opportunity as Gypsy Site and Community Liaison Manager, has arisen within the Gypsy and Traveller Service (GTS) to cover maternity leave. Our (KCC owned) sites are home to over 550 members of the Gypsy and Traveller community, the GTS team are responsible for providing a safe environment to live, whilst promoting the integration and diversity of these communities in Kent.

The role of Gypsy Site and Community Liaison Manager is: To manage the day to day running of the sites owned and managed by KCC. To be the first point of contact for licensees to raise any issues with their pitch, including repairs, maintenance and late payment concerns. To facilitate understanding between Gypsy and Traveller communities and the wider public. To work with colleagues to remove Unauthorised Encampments on KCC owned land.

The role will be based at Invicta House, Maidstone, but you will be expected to go out on site visits. The team is looking for a highly motivated individual with exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills, and experience in handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
