We are looking to appoint an Apprenticeship Advisor & Practice Educator to establish and monitor internal and external training provision determined by Apprenticeship Training Plans and provide Practice Education to apprentices on their formally assessed periods of practice on the Social Worker (Degree) Apprenticeship.

You will monitor and support Social Worker (Degree) Apprentices to provide a high quality apprenticeship experience.

For this role, you will be required to make frequent visits to clients throughout Kent and South East regions. As the department secure further business, travel is likely to extend to national locations, therefore you must have the ability and flexibility to travel under your own means as required.

As Apprenticeship Advisor & Practice Educator you will:

work with employers to provide a timely and efficient recruitment and admissions service to apprenticeship employers, including screening, interviewing and placing apprentices, so that recruitment campaigns are managed in line with University’s best practice. In accordance with the ESFA regulations, ensure applicants are eligible.
support the apprentice in finding alternative positions, should the need arise due to redundancy or other, so they can continue their apprenticeship, thus helping attrition rates for the University and CHDA.
be signposting or referring apprentices to various departments within the University, including CHDA, SLAS, Student Support and other Schools to ensure apprentices receive the support needed.
have a thorough knowledge of the apprenticeship portfolio CHDA and partner colleges offer in order to support the Business Development Manager to market apprenticeship opportunities to relevant sectors in accordance with CHDAs marketing strategy.
teach, support and assess learners on their formal placement period
have access to own transport, to use on a daily basis.


To be successful in this role you will have:

social work qualified and PEPS 2 certificate
HCPC registration
direct experience of supporting, mentoring and monitoring progress of apprentices and/or trainees in a FE/HE context
direct experience of supporting, mentoring and monitoring progress of managers in a FE/HE context
a customer-focused approach to work with the ability to deliver an exceptionally high level of customer service to everyone the post holder is in contact with, at all levels
the ability to travel across England visiting apprentices and employers, this could include out of hours work
to undertake a DBS check


The University of Kent has delivered higher apprenticeships since 2011, working with industry-leading employers including GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Novartis and Unilever.

Kent launched the Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships in 2016 to build on this experience to help deliver apprenticeships tailored to their needs. It also has an important role to play within the University, supporting academic schools on all aspects of delivering apprenticeship training.
