Assistant Manager

A fantastic opportunity to join the mobilization of a new supported living service for adults with autism.

As the Assistant Manager you will work alongside a Manager. You will play a key role in the day to day management of the service. You will provide support and supervision to the team of Shift Leaders, be key to managing the rota and ensuring staff are fully trained, and provide on the job coaching, feedback, and act as a role model.

Ideally you will already be an experienced Assistant or Deputy Manager with experience of leading a committed team, of experienced and new to care staff. Equally you could be an ambitious Shift Leader with the ability and desire to step into your first management opportunity.

We are proud to say that support workers at the Kent Autistic Trust are quite unique. We have a superb track record of successfully supporting individuals with autism, including those with non-verbal communication needs and self-injurious behavior.

We provide 24-hour support and care for autistic adults. Staff provide physical, emotional, and personal care, as well as domestic services in various settings. Some of those we support also have medical conditions including epilepsy.

We are a non-adversive service who pride ourselves in understanding the complexity and challenges involved in supporting people living with autism.

We seek staff who really value every person whether it\'s the people we support, their families or carers, or other staff by respecting their priorities, needs, abilities and limits. We provide comprehensive training and assessment for new staff, and after that we continue to develop our talent through an ongoing learning and development curriculum.

The logistics of the work we do necessitate transporting the people we support to appointments, activities or days out. Driving is therefore an integral responsibility of many of our jobs. Drivers need a full driving licence and the confidence and willingness to drive a small minibus (people carrier) or a mobility car. However, a driving licence is not always an essential criteria for every role but may be an overriding selection criteria.

You will need a sufficient level of fitness as the job is likely to place physical demands on staff including a range of motions of upper extremities, aerobic capacity, strength, body mechanics, balance and ability to follow directions, and are you do you understand that as part of the job you will assist people we support with activities such as swimming which would involve you entering the pool, or participating in activities such as walking or cycling.

Summary Details ASSISTANT MANAGER

SALARY - £21,000 p.a. Pro Rata (37.5hrs FTE) / £10.77 p.h.

HOURS - 37.5 with some additional paid training outside these hours, plus casual shifts and sleep ins regularly available.

SHIFT - Working on a 3 week rolling rota with early and last shifts and 1 full weekend off in 3.

Early shift - 7.30am to 4pm

Late Shift - 4pm to 10.30pm

Flexibility is paramount for this role to ensure the needs of the establishment are fulfilled

LOCATION - Brompton House, Brompton, Gillingham Kent.
