Eurotunnel manages, maintains and operates the Channel Tunnel Fixed Link Concession between Folkestone and Coquelles, France. Opened on 6 May 1994, the Fixed Link is a rolling motorway which transports passenger and commercial freight vehicles on board Shuttles across the Channel at 140kph, in 35 minutes. It also allows the running of third party passenger and railfreight trains. The advantages of the Channel Tunnel are security, reliability, speed, frequency and respect for the environment.

In 2018, Eurotunnel Shuttles carried circa 1.7 million trucks, and 2.6 million passenger vehicles and facilitated the transportation of just over 1m tonnes of freight and some 11m Eurostar passengers. The Channel Tunnel facilitates trade worth circa £91.4bn per year, representing a quarter of all UK trade in goods with the European Union. Eurotunnel is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Technician to join its Civil Engineering department. Working at our terminal in Folkestone and reporting to the Group Leader, the Senior Technician is responsible for ensuring the preventive maintenance for all Civil Engineering elements and equipment. You will need to prepare specifications, budget applications, plan works access and authorisations in conjunction with other departments.

You will also work closely with the team of technicians who maintain the operational availability of the Tunnel Infrastructure. As maintenance can be undertaken at night and weekends you must be prepared to work occasional unsocial hours.

You must have a HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, together with a minimum of five years experience in a Civil Engineering environment. In addition, you must have experience of working on projects involving Roads, Bridges, Tunnels and other Structures.
