Assistant Supervisor (Cleaning & Waste) - Morning 6am - 2pm
The Role
The Assistant Supervisor (Cleaning & Waste) will be a member of the Estates Department Facilities Management team. They will be responsible for overseeing the work of cleaning teams at the Canterbury Campus as directed by the Supervisor (Cleaning & Waste). The role will monitor the daily operational cleaning requirements ensuring that a high quality cleaning service is delivered by the team, following an agreed Service Level Statement (SLS) across all general buildings both internally and externally across the Canterbury Campus.
This role is designed to provide the University with flexibility in the service provision. As such flexibility in the ability to alter the working pattern of the role is required on occasions including to assist with covering during periods of annual leave / sickness or for special events (e.g. Arrival Weekend) when reasonably requested.
The Person
Essential qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience include:
GCSE English & Maths grade C and above or equivalent qualification or relevant skills gained through work experience
Previous experience of working in cleaning/waste/environmental service sector
Full valid current UK driving licence
Good verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organisational skills including the ability to work independently to meet deadlines and competing demands
Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and react effectively to the unexpected
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3 Supervisor in Cleaning and Support Services (or equivalent)
The Department
The Estates Department provides a number of essential services to the University of Kent and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the extensive grounds and buildings; the security of students, staff and visitors; transport and travel; a postal service and the telephone exchange as well as the University Design & Print Centre. It is also responsible for the buildings, new development and construction projects both at Canterbury and at our Medway campus at Chatham Maritime and on the Chatham Historic Dock Yard.
